In my earlier research, I reported that more than 80% of essential oils on the global market are adulterated. I also defined five major types of adulteration, from simple dilution to sophisticated synthetic reconstruction.
Now with the addition of synthetic harmful chemicals in synthetic solvent, it introduces the sixth type of adulteration (Poison Grade EO) With the flood of extremely cheap EO kits on online platforms and retail shelves, the estimated level of adulteration has now reached over ~85%.

A “poison-grade” category involving synthetic, endocrine-disrupting chemicals. That’s why it’s up to us — scientists, practitioners, educators, and informed consumers to raise awareness and demand better.
